On Thursday 21 May 2009 the port of Alonissos Patitiri, was blocked by vessels from Alonissos from 07:00 until 11:00, as a symbolic protest against the profits of the Marine Park.
The fishermen
feel aggrieved over the years have not reaped any benefits from the Marine Park, despite repeated promises to take even since the creation of the Park.
In summary the demands of fishermen are as follows
* The destruction of their fishing gear and grabbing fish from the seals that were protecting themselves and protecting all these years, without receiving the slightest compensation. By contrast the fines levied Park regularly by all offenders fishermen.
